This is a special book. The subtitle describes the collection: He/She Poems Collected in Pairs. It is the only anthology I have created with another person. I was blessed that Naomi Shihab Nye agreed to work on the project. She was my short list of people I was going to ask to join me in this project. I could not have asked for a more sensitive and creative partner. She made the book better that it would have been if I'd done it alone. Trust me. If you aren't familiar with her writing—poetry, fiction, and picture books—do yourself a favor and look her up.
"Nye and Janeczko, distinguised anthologists, have fittingly combined their talents to creat this collection . . . celebrating women and men's varying points of view. . . . Teachers or older adolescents wanting a rich source for thought and discussion need look no further."
— School Library Journal (starred review)
"The sheer variety--only a fraction by poets who are even relatively familiar--is extraordinary . . . This is a wonder. . . . a remarkable anthology."
— Kirkus Reviews (pointer review)
"You dip into this great collection anywhere and discover something astonishing to read, one poem at a time."
